Davy Milltech has shipped a used SMS Meer (Eumuco) SMX 180 Radial forging machine with total forging force of 2000T from Grermany to China to forge High Speed Steel and Special Alloy bars for China's leading Twist Drill and Tooling manufacturer. Davy Milltech were also responsible for the installation and commissioning of the Radial Forge which went into full production in March 2008. The requirement of Top Eastern Group was to forge High Speed Steel Ingots from 165mm dia. down to 70mm dia. in 6 minutes. The used SMX 180 originally installed in Germany rose to the challenge and initial tests showed that it could complete the forging in just over 3 minutes. Top Eastern Group are delighted with the results and the shorter forging time means they will be able to forge more bars than anticipated.
